ABSORBACIDE APPLICATION
Application & Usage
Absorbacide® is easy to apply, cost-effective, and highly adaptable across a variety of grain storage and handling systems. Whether used as a direct grain treatment, structural dusting, or in slurry form, it provides reliable, long-term insect control with minimal equipment.
Cost-Effective Treatment
Absorbacide® delivers excellent value:
-
Grain treatment (1kg/tonne): Comparable to chemical insecticides
-
Structural dusting (2g/m²): Costs around 8% of chemical spray treatments
-
Water slurry (6g/m² dry basis): Less than half the cost of chemical options
-
Snow cap treatment (100g/m²): Low-cost surface protection during fumigation
Application Methods
Grain Conveyor Application
-
Apply 1kg per tonne of grain through a conveyor or auger system
-
Use any powder dosing appliance for even coverage (e.g. auger hoppers, elevators, belt conveyors)
-
Begin aeration immediately if grain is warm or has high moisture
-
The air stream helps distribute the powder into crevices and grain layers
Dusting (Structural or Surface)
-
Apply with a bellows-type duster, garden duster, or venturi blower (e.g. Blovac BV22)
-
Ideal for warehouses, silos, grain stores, and equipment
-
For silos, dust through top hatches or use the aeration fan inlet
-
Apply from top to bottom on walls and roof structures
-
Always wear a disposable dust mask when dusting
Water-Based Slurry
-
Fast, clean, and accurate application
-
Mix Absorbacide® with water and spray directly onto grain or surfaces
-
Widely adopted in the grain industry for its efficiency and ease of use
Snow Cap Treatment
-
Apply 100g/m² as a surface layer on bulk-stored grain
-
Acts as both a physical insect barrier and helps retain fumigants during treatment
-
Very low cost, highly effective in controlled fumigation systems
Important Usage Considerations
-
Humidity: Absorbacide® works by dehydrating insects, so high humidity (>70%) can reduce its effectiveness. In humid climates, it should be tested before full-scale use.
-
Moisture Content of Grain:
-
Wheat, Barley, Oats: 13% or lower
-
Sorghum, Corn, Paddy Rice: 14% or lower
-
-
Avoid treating damp commodities.
-
Grain Flow & Handling: Treated grain may flow more slowly due to increased angle of repose. Not suitable for some bulk handling systems that meter flow precisely.
(Note: This does not apply when used only as a snow cap.)
Absorbacide® offers flexible, proven grain protection — adaptable to your storage system, budget, and application preferences.
