APPLICATION & USAGE
Usage & Application
Palagonite is a versatile, natural product that can be applied across a wide range of farming systems, gardens, and even in animal nutrition. Here's how to get the best results:
Broadacre & Row Cropping
Apply 2–6 tonnes per hectare (T/Ha)
-
Incorporate Palagonite into and just below the root zone
-
Promotes deeper root growth and better nutrient uptake
-
Reduce chemical fertiliser rates
-
Apply fertilisers above the Palagonite layer to minimise nutrient leaching
Domestic Gardens
Apply 2kg per square metre (kg/m²)
-
Mix into garden beds up to 250mm deep
-
Reduce chemical fertiliser use
-
Adjust compost and organic inputs as needed
Pasture & Turf
Small scale: Top dress at 3kg/m²
Large scale: Apply 2–6T/Ha depending on results required and budget
-
Improves soil health and boosts pasture nutrition
Composting
Palagonite enhances composting by improving microbial activity and nutrient balance.
-
Application rate: Use 20–50% Palagonite in compost mix, depending on waste type
-
Ideal for composting wet manures, paunch, hoof/horn waste, sawdust, dry manures & more
-
Reduces odours, speeds decomposition, and boosts nutrient retention
-
Creates a well-balanced, microbe-rich compost with all 22 essential nutrients
Tip: Compost with Palagonite results in a more nutrient-dense, stable product that holds together better and resists nutrient loss in heavy rain.
Animal Nutrition
-
Add Palagonite at 2% of the daily feed ration to help correct mineral deficiencies and improve animal condition
-
Top dress pastures at 6T/Ha to enhance the nutritional quality of forage over time
